Principal's Message

Greeting Evergreen Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at Evergreen Elementary School! I am Mrs. Torres, your proud Principal and I look forward to working collaboratively with our students and families to ensure the academic and social and emotional success for our students. I extend a warm welcome to our new and returning families. I eagerly anticipate meeting you in person.

As we approach the new school year, I want to provide our families with information to prepare for the upcoming school year. In many ways we are anticipating going back to a more typical school year with our Dragons learning in-person. However, I ask our families to stay flexible and open-minded as there will be adjustments and changes needed throughout the year. This letter will review the most up-to-date health and safety guidelines. Please make sure to read it carefully and thoroughly.  You may also find additional information regarding the 21-22 educational program at our district website at under the Quick Links and at our website under the Resource page.

This year our school wide theme is “Find the CHAMPION in YOU”.  We will encourage our students to embrace a No Excuses mindset so they stay FOCUSED and DETERMINED to be the BEST version of themselves. At Evergreen we believe that every child deserves a CHAMPION, an adult who will never give up on them and insists they become the best they can possibly be. I invite you to join us in CHAMPIONING our students. Together we will ENCOURAGE and CELEBRATE studentsSUCCESSES! I look forward to a VICTORIOUS year! #FindtheCHAMPIONinYOU #BetheBestYOU #DragonPRIDE

As a staff, we have committed to embrace the NEU belief that every child deserves the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them to be college and career ready. This year, we will re-launch our PBIS practices with our ROAR campaign to support school wide desired behavior and to build a positive school climate. We will strengthen our SEL initiative to support our students social and emotional well-being. Our academic focus will continue with Thinking Maps as a powerful tool to strengthen critical thinking and writing skills. We will continue to focus on reading skills and academic language in order to provide accountable talk opportunities to support language development, communication, and collaborative cultures. There is hard work ahead of us, but by keeping students as our number one priority and collaborating with our entire dragon professionals, we will be our students CHAMPIONS!

Establishing and maintaining a close school to home communication system is vital for student success. I am here to help our students be the best they can be. If I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me. All my communication with our families is done though Parent Square. Please ensure to complete your Aeries Data Confirmation and update your information so I can best reach you.

I am thrilled and excited to open up our school! I look forward to seeing  our veteran students and welcoming our new Dragons for the            2021-2022 school year.
